“I have been drawing and painting since childhood and I have tried to reflect experiences that have affected me emotionally. For example a recent piece, DAMIEN OF BANTRY BAY, (see Gallery, New Work) was painted after I was enthralled with the incredible musical talent of a man in Bantry marketplace.
I stopped, like many others, for some time to listen to the huge range of music this man could play. It was a moment in time that I felt I had to work to record in order to share those feelings with the viewer.
I am particularly drawn to the work of the impressionist artists such as Renoir, Lautrec, Degas and Van Gogh. I am constantly stimulated by the work of these men and contemporary artists such as John Blockley and Mark Leach”
